Leadership - PALS

11.02.14

Today I had PALS-Physical activity leaders. I started a game of tag with the Kakano students, and they continued the game on as well as us joining in. Then we played another game, Duck, duck, goose. That was heaps of fun having the juniors chase you or you chase them but when we were in we didn`t always get them because they were running quite fast.We ended up having more little kids that joined in to have some fun. I was showing leadership skills by turning up, and also leading by example.

On the Tuesday the 24.02.14 the day before my next session of PALS. I will meet up with my group  so we could be more organised [e.g if we need any sports equipment for our next activity.]

50th Jubilee Writting

31.10.14
Oaklands School had their 50th Jubilee on Labour weekend this year.  I am in year 7.  In 50 years time when they have their 100th Jubilee I will be 62.  In 50 years I think these changes would have happened at Oaklands School...

They may not have self directed learning anymore (SDL) or the school just changed the name.  Also that they have changed the playground equipment, and a different amount of children in each class.  I also think that there will be more technology in each of the classrooms and maybe even longer lunch and morning tea breaks.  They might make morning tea and lunch earlier like, around 10:30am.  I think they might have changed the school uniform, like have a summer uniform, and new types of hats. I think that they might have changing rooms, so that when they have sport they can get there quicker.  I wonder what the discos and formals would look like in 50 years time?

What will the school turn out like when it's 100?

Factory farming speech

WALT: To write a persuasive speech.

Do you really know where your bacon and eggs come from?

Would you rather be an animal living free and having endless space. Or be a poor little animal crammed in a tiny little space and not having a healthy environment.

Some items you buy from your local supermarket come from a factory farm.  For example chickens. Chickens are in factory farms they are crammed in tiny little spaces and are forced to lay eggs.  Every two hours lights will be turned on and off so chickens that live in factory farms are forced to do things and aren`t living a happy and free life, unlike free range chickens.

But that`s just one animal, there are many other unhappy and in pain animals that are living in an unfair, crammed and forcing place.  See there is no reason having factory farms because in New Zealand there is loads of green grass, land, paddocks and farm land.  So why have them?

All animals like Chickens, Pigs, Cows and Turkeys are getting treated badly.  According to a study done by last chance for animals about one in every five Chickens die from stress or diseases but some of the outcomes for dead Chickens are worse.

If no one stands up and stops it more and more animals will be getting bad treatment and will have more of a risk or chance of dying.

So next time you go to the supermarket to get some eggs or other dairy products, make sure that it's free range because free range live happy lives.

Overall, I think that Factory farming should be banned because there is enough land and space for animals to live in and that the animals that have to live in factory farms are dying from diseases.

The SOLO level I have reached for surface features is relational because I have used some punctuation like full stops, commas and question marks, and I know why I have used them.

The SOLO level I have reached for my speech is multistructual because I have listed some reasons why it should be banned.

My next step is to use a different range of words.
